2018 People of Influence Luncheon

In partnership with the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, this year’s People of Influence Luncheon will fund a “Home Away from Home” for patients who must stay in the hospital for longer periods of time while undergoing cancer treatments.

Our current hostel is one of the original inpatient units on the 5th floor of the SJ Regional Hospital and has remained untouched since the hospital was built 36 years ago. The carpet, paint and window treatments are all original and the rooms, institutional. We believe that our cancer patients need their ‘temporary’ home to be so much more. A few changes will positively impact our patient’s comfort and care. With your help, we hope to refurbish the unit to create a welcoming, comforting, healing, home environment to provide relief from the emotional and financial burdens of care away from home.

Our guest speaker this year is Dr. Terrance Comeau, Hematologist and Director, New Brunswick Stem Cell Transplantation Program at the Saint John Regional Hospital and our own Hometown Healthcare Hero.

Thank you to everyone who attended this event. It was a great success that will greatly benefit the Home Away From Home Oncology Hostel.
