Volunteer Scholarships
”Education is for improving the lives of others.”
Honoring student achievement and volunteerism is the purpose of the Brighten Group’s Education Awards Program. Since 1996, the program has provided recognition to students whose efforts have enabled them to meet challenging standards of excellence.
The Brighten Group awards a total of $3,000 to 3 students each year:
The three awards are provided to students volunteers from or currently residing in the Greater Saint John area in recognition of their outstanding volunteer service at the Saint John Regional Hospital. These awards have been named in honour of Dr. Deborah Mitton, and Auxilians Peggy Bulmer, and Teresa Casey for their dedicated service to the Brighten Group and to the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Potential award recipients must meet the following criteria:
Award recipients must be registered through Horizon's Volunteer Services program, with volunteer hours at the Regional. Volunteers from St. Joseph's Hospital will be eligible to receive these awards, provided they have some volunteer hours at the Saint John Regional Hospital as well.
Minimum grade point average of 80% or 3.0
